Regular physical activity plays an absolutely critical role in making the difference between living and living well. But fewer than 30% of people aged over 60 will have been physically active for even a 10 minute period in the last four weeks. At the same time, almost 60% of Bristol’s adult population is overweight and we spend £7.65M in the city each year on health treatments for illnesses associated with physical inactivity.
This is a showcase event that will consider how older people can be encouraged to get out and to be active. The knock-on effect will be to improve physical and mental wellbeing, reduce social isolation, increase life expectancy and improve quality of life.
