Event description
As part of the Bristol Technology Festival we are proud to announce the BRISTOL TECH FAIR. Includes Tech, Children, Careers and Diversity.

About this Event

As part of the Bristol Technology Festival we are proud to announce the BRISTOL TECH FAIR. This is a celebration of technology, engineering, and science for EVERYONE and helpfully runs on a Saturday – what’s not to love! At the very least it’s a day out and at most we can encourage the next generation, sort your career and improve your company culture!

It’s about Collaboration

We are collaborating with three great not for profit organisations in the region to ensure that we have something to cover all bases. The theme of the fair is “The full story”. Tech starts engaging people from a young age, but we know its a stretch to support our children in it as well as people who are either not engaged, struggling to get in (or back in for returners) or simply don’t have a clear understanding of how wide and exciting the tech world is.

The Next Generation with Technotopia

We are teaming up with Technotopia, who’s aim is to transform the way that technology connects with people in Bristol and beyond. They have been running for 2 years now and are promising a full day of hands-on activities to get children and young people excited about the opportunities that new technologies are bringing into our lives. In previous years they have had code clubs, Lego robots, VR interactive games and all sorts of exciting things that engage and support children interested in the tech world. They are our next generation programmers, engineers, solution makers and quite frankly probably can tell us a thing or two! It’s aimed at 6years and up but feel free to come along with your full family and we will announce sponsors and companies as we go.

Diversity and inclusion with Tech3Shed Careers Fair

Secondly, we have a return of the Tech³Shed engaged careers fair from Women’s Tech Hub. Women’s Tech Hub ~ Bristol grew from their shared love of working in tech, alongside our awareness of the lack of diversity. Their mission is to support the development of a tech industry that is inclusive of all; that reflects the wider society that it exists to serve. The Careers fair was driven from networking events where companies were keen to engage with our members and rather than the networking events becoming engagement pieces just for companies they decide to set up a fair to replicate what they were doing with their dedicated inclusive tech careers fair.

We will be mailing info about jobs available and who is looking for what so if you sign up on our eventbrite dedicated page here we can update you. If you are a company wanting to be here contact us on info@wthub.org.

Communication with the WISE campaign

Last, but not least we are welcoming the WISE campaign who have been part of the regions industry for longer than we know. For this we are running a mini conference with panel speakers discussing what companies can due to encourage diversity internally and externally. They are looking to engage with people working in gender equality in the engineering industry (and wider) here in the South West (i.e. gender network leaders, chairs, advisory board members and D&I leads) in order to discuss about gender networks and if, and if yes how they can help organisations to attract, retain and develop their female talent so that we can together set an agenda for Bristol and the South West.

Fun!

This is the most inclusive (and fun) event in the Bristol Tech Festival, running on the penultimate day, it’s free to attend and we hope everyone will come along and join us. Please check out the individual pages for more information on each and how you can be part of this amazing day.
