About this event

Health • Mental health

Bristol Warm Welcome Network is proud to host its first in-person meeting since launching in May this year. Join us for a morning of in-depth mental and physical health training, specifically tailored for the leaders and volunteers of the region's warm spaces and community cafes. All followed by a free networking lunch!

Bristol Mind will start us off with a detailed, interactive workshop on understanding and supporting people with mental health challenges.

We'll then be joined by Tabinda Rashid-Fadel, who'll train spaces to become Community CVD Champions - able to use blood pressure monitoring equipment. There will be testing kits, free of charge, to take back with you to your space - all you need to do is let us know in advance when you register that you would like one. Becoming a Community CVD Champion means:

1) Being willing to do regular blood pressure checks in your space, as part of the NHS' wider plans to shift to prevention and create a Neighbourhood Health Service.

2) Being willing for us to get in contact with you every six months or so, to hear how things are going and offer any support you might need.

Do remember to let us know as you register if you would like the CVD training, so we can make sure a testing kit is reserved for you to take back to your space.

For those wanting something different, there will also other training on offer alongside the session with Tabinda. Details TBC!

Doors open at 9:30am for refreshments and networking, for a very prompt 10am start. Thank you in advance for being on time.

The Foundation event space at Triodos Bank does not have parking, however there is paid on-street parking outside, and also paid parking in College Street Car Park (three minute walk) and Frog Lane Car Park (five minute walk). Both are maximum stay four hours and we recommend attendees use public transport or active travel where possible.

This event is free of charge, funded by Good Faith Partnership. All we ask is that you take all of the great learnings from the day back to your space to make it even better than it already is.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
