Description

Mark Cosgrove: From the Kinetoscope to Virtual Reality
Bristol800 Weekender
Sat 12 November 2016
10:00-11:00
Watershed

Free admission, but booking required

There are likely to be some seats available at this event for those who have not booked tickets but this can not be guaranteed.

Mark Cosgrove, Watershed’s Curator of Cinema outlines the fascinating history of film and the moving image from the early days of experiments with making still images move in machines like the kinetoscope, to our current exploration of virtual reality. He is a mentor on the MA/MFA Curating course at UWE Bristol and this session includes contributions from the course leader, Matthew Partington, and Dave Taylor-Matthews, a current student.

This event is part of the Bristol800 Universities Showcase Weekender, in association with Bristol Festival of Ideas.

Bristol800 is supported by:

Arts Council England, Bristol & Bath Cultural Destinations, Bristol City Council, The Society of Merchant Venturers, University of Bristol, University of the West of England

We have restricted the number of tickets that can be booked to one per transaction. This has been introduced in an effort to stop people automatically booking multiple tickets without confirming if they have guests to go with them. We hope this will help to limit the number of 'no shows' at the events, which currently run at around 35% of bookings. We will monitor the situation. If you need more than one ticket, you can click on the booking link again. The little extra effort involved will hopefully put off those who don’t really need more than one, but not those who do.

If you like what Bristol Festival of Ideas does, and want to help us continue to keep our prices low and offer a wide range of free events, then please consider making a donation. Your donation will be made to Bristol Cultural Development Partnership, which manages the Festival, but all donations go to the Festival. Please note that one donation equates to one ticket.

Please ensure you use the correct email address. This is where your ticket will be sent. If you do not provide the correct address, you will not receive the acknowledgement email or ticket.

We share audience data with our funding partners. Please contact us if you would not like your data shared.
