Event description

Description

The objectives of the “Speak Out” events are:
1. Challenge stereotypes – of people in authority and of young people.
2. Break down barriers between young people and people in authority.
3. Equip young people to voice their concerns.
4. Motivate young people to engage in public life.
5. Challenge policy makers to consider the input of young people in the policy process.

We held our inaugural “Speak Out” event on Knife and Gun Crime on the 7th of July 2014. We will be comparing the differences between then and now.

The event format is of brief ten minute debates on subjects submitted by youth attendees. The debate question is tabled by the moderator, panellists are given an opportunity to respond and then youth from the audience are given an opportunity for riposte.
