Event description

Description

“Britain on Film on Tour explores the vital history of black Britain throughout the 20th century. Bringing together films spanning 1901 to 1985 and taken from many different regions of the UK, it offers incredibly rare, little-seen and valuable depictions of black British life on screen.”
Independent Cinema Office

Ideas Test and Diversity House are partnering up to screen stories of black Britain from the BFI archives.

Of particular interest this Remembrance Day, are the newsreels shown in For the Wounded (1915) and From Trinidad to Serve the Empire (1916) which offer scarce glimpses of black servicemen during World War One.

Plus, from 2pm, Diversity House are hosting a workshop “Black Britain on Film: Remembering our Unsung Heroes & Sheroes” where you can discuss the themes raised in the films, exchange views and ask questions.

Seating space in the Screening Area is limited so please book your FREE ticket. (The screening runs for approximately 2 hours).
