Whatever the outcome of the general election, the constellation of parties and EU positions in Britain’s increasingly fragmented political landscape make it hard to discern the prospects and potential strategies of Britain in the run-up to a national referendum on Britain’s continued EU membership. A panel of LSE and outside experts will try to make sense of a potentially confused picture.
Professor Maurice Fraser is Head of the European Institute and Professor of Practice in European Politics, LSE.
Professor Simon Hix is Head of the Department of Government and Professor of European and Comparative Politics at LSE. He is a Fellow of the British Academy.
Professor Sara Hobolt is Sutherland Chair in European Institutions at the European Institute, LSE.
John Springford is a senior research fellow, working on economic issues, at the Centre for European Reform in London. He acted as secretary to the CER’s commission on the economic consequences of leaving the EU, which published its final report in June 2014. Before joining the CER, he worked at the Social Market Foundation and CentreForum think-tanks.
Note: John Springford replaces Simon Tilford, who was orginially advertised as appearing on the panel.
The LSE European Institute (@LSEEI) was established in 1991 as a dedicated centre for the interdisciplinary study of processes of integration and fragmentation within Europe. In the most recent national Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014), the Institute was ranked first for research in its sector.
