Britcon 2013, 9-11 August, UMIST, Manchester
Event Information
Description
The largest event in the BHGS calendar will be returning to the now-familiar surroundings of UMIST in Manchester over the Friday-Sunday of 9-11th August 2013
Accommmodation in the University is now available to book via this link.
This booking form is for booking the Britcon Competitions.
You can book advance tickets for the Britcon Trade Show here
New Periods - including a 10+ game "Epic Saga" competition for the runaway success that is the Saga ruleset, as well as the debut of "Bolt Action"
New 5- or 6-game option - we've listened to your pathetic whining, sorry, feedback about how unwelcome Britcon's two late night games can sometimes be, and so in 2013 you can choose to drop the Friday or Saturday night's game in the larger gaming periods, or still play all 6 rounds. You just need to let us know when you book how many rounds you are planning on playing in, but we are sure many of you will just be grateful to have the choice this time around
Prices Frozen - we know there is a recession out there, so through careful negotiation with the venue there will be no increase in entry fees in 2013. The Britcon entry fee also remains the same no matter how many games you choose play,
Accomodation still optional - We've negotiated some great rates at UMIST for a variety of standards of rooms - all still in stumbling distance of the venue and bar as usual. To be honest we'd like as many people to stay in UMIST accommodation as it helps keep the venue happy with us as tenants, but you are totally free to book and stay elsewhere if you wish. There is a separate booking portal to book the UMIST rooms that you will be taken to once you confirm your Britcon entry.
No "2nd Class Gaming Rooms" We will keep everyone in the two main gaming rooms - and if we sell out, we will only go into the nice rooms, not the pokey impossible to find ones upstairs ... so no-one gets to feel like they are treated as a 2nd class citizen this year. This may well mean we end up turning people away if we sell out, so make sure you book early as places are limited!
(and here's the technical small print stuff)
ENTRY
Entry to the competition is regarded as acceptance of the BHGS’s competition rules (available on this website). Admission to any BHGS tournament is at the sole discretion of the organisers and their decision on all matters is final. If any entrant breaches these rules, causes disruption during the competition or causes or threatens to cause damage to property at the venue, the BHGS’s representative on the day will be entitled in his or her absolute discretion to require that player to leave the competition and the venue immediately, without any refund.
