Description

The UK's first (and London's only) sake brewers Kanpai are joining forces with seasonal, sustainable pop-up restaurant fodder to transform the Kanpai brewery in Peckham's Copeland Park into a British Izakaya.


Inspired by the tapas bar-esque counters of Japan, where small plates of tasty flavour-bombs are paired with drinks, fodder and Kanpai's spin on the traditional Izakaya promises to match seasonal British produce with Asian flavours in a tasting menu of dishes and a flight of Kanpai's small-batch sakes to match.

Sample Menu

Sake cocktail

  • Salted daikon + hogweed buds
  • Yin and yang oyster: Chopped fal fal oyster and cream with black garlic

FIZU sparkling sake

  • Tempura hen of the woods: With sweet corn and yeast dipping sauce
  • Fermented cabbage parcel: Filled with pickled alexander
  • Monkfish liver: With blackberry vinegar

SUMI clear sake

  • Ray tail: Confit in koji + glazed in fig leaf served with Aztec broccoli
  • Duck offal yakitori: Sake soaked damson + crispy skin
  • Breast of duck + confit leg: Neck sauce + pumpkin

Apple marigold granita

KUMO cloudy sake

  • Hogweed cornetto: Hogweed seed ice cream, whiskey sauce + buckwheat popcorn
