A one-day seminar starting with a morning session at the British Library with the curators and Dr.Barbara Brend, viewing illustrated and illuminated works from the collection. This will be followed by pigment and technical demonstrations with Anita Chowdry in her nearby studio. This seminar offers a valuable learning experience for anyone with an academic or practical interest in Persian and Mughal books. Dr Barbara Brend is an independent scholar who has had a long association with the British Library, and is a leading authority on Islamic manuscripts. She has authored a number of important publications in the field.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
The nearst stations are King's Cross St. Pancras and Euston
What can/can't I bring to the event?
A notebook and pencil and a camera. Photography is permitted in the studio, but not in the British Library Print Room.
What is the refund policy?
Any cancellations made after the 4th May (i.e. 4 weeks before the event) are not refundable

Anita Chowdry at Studio 3
Anita Chowdry is an experienced artist and tutor with extensive practical and research experience in Persianate manuscript painting, with a track record teaching historical techniques to artists and conservators in museums and national libraries the UK and abroad.
Studio 3, based in Bloomsbury, is a comfortable, inspiring and well-resourced working space, close to major museums and galleries and easily accessible by bus or tube.
