Event Details

Join fellow Nordic Walkers from across the UK on 7th May 2017; for the first Nordic Walking Challenge of 2017 at the famous Wollaton Park, a spectacular Elizabethan Mansion and Deer Park set in the beautiful suburbs of Nottingham. Standing on a natural hill, three miles west of Nottingham City Centre, Wollaton Hall is set in five hundred acres of spectacular gardens and parkland. The hall was used as the setting for Wayne Manor in the 2012 Batman film, Dark Knight Rises. On site, in addition to the historic hall and its sumptuous grounds, visitors will find Nottingham's Natural History Museum, a secret garden (open Sundays 2-4pm), a café and other activities.

There are Challenge prizes for fastest man and woman in each distance at each individual event. There will not be prizes for the fastest teams this year.  This will be replaced by some new prizes provided by our sponsors.  Details will be supplied in the final details.  To give us the opportunity to add additional events during 2017, there will not be a series competition as there was in 2016.

All the routes are off road and traffic free with attractive views. Suitable for all levels of fitness and for children and adults (children must be over the age of 8). If you are new to Nordic walking you must have a lesson prior to taking part in the Challenge. Please contact British Nordic Walking for details of how to book a Nordic Walking lesson.

Pole hire available and free taster sessions are available for those new to Nordic Walking.

New for 2017.  At the request of our volunteers who work very hard running the events, we have introduced a course closure time of four hours after the start of the 21km at 9:30am.  At approximately 1:30pm course marshals will leave their positions and collect in signage.  Participants will be advised that they can either retire from the course or complete the route by self-navigation.

British Nordic Walking CIC

British Nordic Walking CIC specialises in setting up and supporting Nordic Walking activities throughout the UK.  We love Nordic Walking and want as many people as possible to experience the enjoyment and health benefits of this exercise

A passion for Nordic Walking
British Nordic Walking is run by a team of enthusiastic volunteers together with a small office team, each with a real enthusiasm for developing the Nordic Walking community in the UK through expert training, creating Nordic Walking opportunities from community groups to fun challenges, and disseminating the latest expert evidence of the benefits of Nordic Walking.

An internationally recognised body
British Nordic Walking is the only UK representative in the International Nordic Walking Federation (INWA)

This means that our instructor training is always based on the latest research from around the world with regard to both Nordic Walking teaching methods plus the health and fitness benefits of Nordic Walking.

A Community Interest Company
British Nordic Walking CIC has a mission to support the growing community of Nordic Walkers and Nordic Walking Instructors.

This means that our profits are reinvested in initiatives to further develop Nordic Walking as a popular activity for health, wellbeing and fitness in the UK.
