The Innovation Chamber Ensemble (strings from the CBSO)
Jacob Concerto No.1 for piano and string orchestra
Williamson Concerto No.2 for piano and string orchestra
Carwithen Concerto for piano and string orchestra
An evening of extraordinary pianistic panache and bravura in which Mark Bebbington showcases three unjustly neglected piano concerto rarities with the Innovation Chamber Ensemble and conductor Richard Jenkinson.
Internationally recognised for his revivals of British piano music, Mark will bring excitement and sparkle to these vivacious yet neglected works, recently recorded to unanimous acclaim.
Expect energetic and toe-tapping rhythms in the concertos by Gordon Jacob and Malcolm Williamson, and, although a rarity on the concert platform, Doreen Carwithen’s concerto is a work of immediate and lasting appeal, with a heart-stopping slow movement.
