Event description

Description

During 2017 we were able to offer fully funded places on a First Aid workshop for volunteers within local organisations in Enfield (Please note, attendees DO NOT become Qualified First Aiders – this workshop is about raising awareness and learning a few techniques).

British Red Cross (BRC) have extended the offer to us again for the summer of 2018 for either a new group of volunteers or as a refresher for those who received the training last year.

We are trying to gauge the level of interest in Enfield so if you are interested in sending your volunteers onto a workshop please reply to me stating your org name, the number of volunteers you may be interested in putting forward for this training and the contact person within your org I should be in touch with to confirm places (name, email address and tel no please). Please let me know by Fri 15 June.

By way of a reminder: The BRC Adult Education team work with organisations and community groups (volunteers and service users) who support people that are facing higher risks of needing first aid in particular crises:

> People living with issues around drug and alcohol usage.

> People who are homeless or rough sleepers and at risk of injury or sudden illness.

> Adults over 65 who are at more risk of slips, trips and falls.

The sessions have had all of the technical/clinical language removed to ensure that it is easy to learn and therefore easy to remember in an emergency situation. Each session is designed to meet learners' needs and is tailored to the environment the learner will be in.

What can learners expect from the first aid session?

> Effective, easy to learn first aid education in a relaxed and informal style.

> Provide relevant first aid skills tailored to the needs of the group.

> Break down the barriers to helping others.

> Build the confidence and willingness to help in a first aid emergency.

> Typically last 2 hours, but flexible depending on number of skills taught.

> Suitable for groups of up to 15 people.

> Delivered by experienced Red Cross trained educators.

> Delivered at your venue.

> Fully funded – there is no cost to you.
