Description

Tournament format and divisions

This is an event for teams of 4 bowlers, there are four average based team divisions. These are defined as follows and apply to the combined team average:

  • Div 1 - 500 and below
  • Div 2 - 501 - 620
  • Div 3 - 621 - 720
  • Div 4 - 721 and above

Please see rule 7 for the event costs, these are to be paid by bank transfer following online entry (as per rule 8).

You will need to select a ticket for each team member (4 per team), you will be prompted to enter details for each bowler when checking out.

Participation in the event is subject to and conditional upon the following rules:

NOTES:

Before, during, and after the event there could be photography, filming or video taken of participants and medal winners by anyone attending the event, either as an official, spectator, parent or guardian. If you (as a participant, parent or guardian) object to this, you must make your objections known to the tournament manager prior to the event starting and reasonable adjustments will be made.

Following a decision by the BTBA Executive, Free Fall and String averages will both be accepted without differentiation for all handicap tournaments as from 1st August 2018. BTBA members will therefore have the opportunity of competing in tournaments on both String and Free Fall. Over 20% of all lanes in the UK are set to become String by the end of 2019. They will be subject to the usual lane certification process.

Tournament rules

1. The British Youth Team Open will be sanctioned by the BTBA (19/0051N) and their general playing rules and tournament rules will apply, together with the following special rules and conditions.

2. The event will consist of six games, changing lanes after three games.

3. All bowlers must be current BTBA/National Federation members. BTBA membership will be checked on the membership database prior to the event. Any bowler without valid BTBA/National Federation membership will be unable to play. International bowlers must present proof of their National Federation membership at event registration.

4. Bowlers must declare their highest current average over a minimum of 18 games in any league / tour. Proof of average may be requested. Averages will be checked against current NAYBC tour rankings. The tournament managers reserve the right to re-rate any entry without notice.

5. All bowlers must be under 22 at 31st August 2019.

  • Lineage £74.40 (£18.60)
  • Prize Fund (returned in full) £60.00 (£15.00)
  • Junior International Fund Contribution £12.00 (£3.00)
  • Expenses £9.60 (£2.40)
  • Total entry £156.00 (£39.00)

7. Payment details will be sent after online entry is complete. Entry fees to be received in full no later than Sunday 30th June. Any changes to the team line up must be submitted by email no later than Thursday 4th July. In the event of a team wishing to completely withdraw, they must contact the tournament managers to discuss no later than Thursday 4th July, any paid entry fees will only be repaid if the space is filled or by agreement with the tournament managers.

8. Registration will be open from 20 minutes prior to squad time. The squad may start earlier than advertised, once all teams have registered.

9. Latecomers will begin to play at the frame then being bowled on the allocated lane. No score can be given for the frames that were missed.

10. The Tournament Managers will be Simon Herbert and Stephen Toop, all decisions made by them will be final, subject to an appeal to the BTBA. In this respect any protest must be made verbally by the team captain at the time of occurrence and confirmed in writing within 72 hours. A provisional ball shall be rolled if a dispute relating to pin fall cannot be immediately resolved.

11. Competitors will not be allowed to smoke (including electronic cigarette devices) or consume alcoholic beverages in the centre before, during, or after the tournament each day. Bad language, abuse of bowling equipment or machinery, or bringing the game into disrepute may result in disqualification by the tournament managers.

12. Competitors who, in the opinion of the tournament managers, are not dressed in a presentable manner will not be permitted to bowl. All bowlers must wear a suitable bowling shirt with the player's name or Team / YBC name clearly visible. Alcohol or tobacco sponsors are not allowed. Denim clothing, jeans and shorts of any description will not be permitted. Hats or other headwear will not be permitted without prior request.

13. Mobile Phones and MP3 players (or other similar devices) must be turned off and are not allowed in the players area. No earphones / headphones are to be worn during play.

14. During play, excluding registered competitors, only licensed coaches or officials displaying valid licenses will be allowed in the playing area (BTBA Rule 333). Safeguarding licenses must always be visible and coaches must be appropriately dressed (as per rule 13, above).

15. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification without refund.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

  • No, you do not need to bring anything with you unless a request is made for proof of BTBA / National Federation membership or of a bowler's average.

  • Yes, but please contact the Tournament Managers before doing so, as per rule 8.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

  • You must inform the Tournament Managers about any changes to your team line up before the deadline in rule 8. If you wish to withdraw the whole team you must contact the Tournament Managers to discuss, as per rule 8.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

  • You must inform the Tournament Managers about any changes to your team line up before the deadline in rule 8.
