About this event
A choice of five days from 15th to 19th of September: If you don't have time for long-term volunteering, Volunteer Action Days are the perfect way to get a taste of what’s involved in carrying out practical conservation in the Broads National Park. September’s activities include managing vegetation at the How Hill wildflower meadow so that it becomes a great habitat full of plants and flowers that attract butterflies, dragonflies, insects and birds. In the past, the fen harvester cut these areas after the Broads Authority’s herd of semi-wild ponies had grazed it. However, the tracks from yearly cuts were beginning to be noticed so we have changed the management on the site. This is where you come in. We need help with raking up and burning soft rush and reed that our staff have cut with mowers and brushcutters. Ash, once cooled, will be used on the Toad Hole Cottage garden. BIG VOLUNTEERING WEEKEND: The 19th September Volunteer Action Day is part of National Parks UK's Big Volunteering Weekend. We'd love to see you there!
