Event description
An interactive evening exploring the problems of political ideological baggage in British Politics. (Light refreshments served)

About this Event

In today’s political world, it has become increasingly difficult to determine what will happen next. It is as if Game of Thrones is playing out in real life. The quest for power, based on deep-rooted ideological pursuits, is demolishing centuries of hard work in areas of civil rights and internationalism.

The United Kingdom’s fractured politics has meant that politicians and activists have become politically homeless, with Boris Johnson assuming the right-wing mantle and Jeremy Corbyn assuming the far-left.

How can we reconcile this fierce and divisive polarity?

Kishan, a barrister by profession with a particular interest in parliamentary law-making, was contributing author in Tipping Points , a collection of essays published earlier this year.

His seminal essay, 'Broken Politics' explores how narrowly entrenched political ideologies (e.g. right vs left) that govern society are the root causes of symptomatic Britain. He calls for an exploration of alternative and potentially more creative solutions, based on the Eastern ideas of Integral Humanism - a more Progressive Centrist approach to governing society, bereft of ideological baggage.
