Calling all story-tellers, writers, thespians and fun seekers. Do you want to take part in a four-day holiday programme, where you'll gain experience alongside professional artists, go on a trip, meet new people, and learn new skills - all for free?

By taking part, you will get to have a go at different creative activities and find out more about some of your favourite areas of the arts, including storytelling, arts and craft, creative writing, and theatre.

You'll also be given dedicated time and support to explore your own interests - whether you're into singing or scriptwriting, film or photography, dance or drama, or anything else creative!

You'll also work towards achieving your Bronze Arts Award, a nationally recognised Level 1 qualification.


Who? For young people aged 11-to-15


When? 10.00am - 3.30pm on Tuesday 28th May - Friday 31st May (May half-term holidays!)


Where? New York Stadium, New York Way, Rotherham, S60 1FJ. Located in Rotherham Community Trust's Goalzone.

Look out for the Goalzone entrance located after the reception to the stadium.

Timeline for the week:

Tuesday 28th May:

  • Getting to know each other
  • Create your own story or plot to a film! Explore characters, casting and plot twists!
  • Q&As with professional artists and performers
  • Exploring your creative talents and possible future education and career paths!


Wednesday 29th May:

  • Trip to Grimm & Co! Grimm & Co are hosting a Story Festival and we've been invited!
  • Reflecting on what you've learnt.


Thursday 30th May:

  • Experience storytelling and performance! Making our stories come to life!
  • Explore our arts inspiration...
  • Exploring your creative talents and possible future education and career paths!


Friday 31st May:

  • Create your very own book cover or film poster! Let's explore visual arts!
  • Sharing your skills: a show and tell of your creativity!
  • Exploring what you have learnt over the week.
  • Reflecting on your experiences, the skills you've gained and the friends you've made.

Key information:

This programme is completely free to take part in, and open to young people aged 11 to 15. You must be able to attend all four days of the programme to sign up.


Lunch and refreshments will be provided during each day of the programme. Please note that young people may not bring their own food and drink into the sessions except for medical reasons or with prior permission of the workshop leader.

A guardian must complete a consent form at the start of the programme, and for young people under 14 a guardian must be available to drop them off at and sign them out of each day of the programme.


All staff members delivering the programme hold current Enhanced DBS checks and have received recent safeguarding training. The event has been fully risk assessed, and our risk assessment and safeguarding policies are available on request.

Is it free to participate?

Yes! All of our Arts Award Programmes are free for young people wishing to take part.

Do I need to have previous experience to take part?

No! We do not require previous experience to take part in our Arts Award Programme. This Bronze Arts Award will have a focus on stories, creative writing, visual arts and drama. This is to celebrate a new festival, delivered by our friends at Grimm & Co and their brand-new 'Story Festival'!
