Brookmill Park runs alongside the tidal river Ravensbourne in South East London. The river and park support an exceptional range of wildlife. Local volunteers organise regular clean ups and litter picks to help keep the river and park clear of plastic and other rubbish. This clean up will be led by local resident Samantha Dhedhi, NCFE qualified River Action Leader and Lawrence Beale Collins who runs the Healthy Rivers Project.
Please do volunteer if you would like to help clean up the river / bank side and feel confident complying with the provisions below. Numbers are limited to 20 for this event. Children over 10 years old are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Due to the popularity of this event and the limited number of spaces, free tickets are limited to 4 per order.
REGISTRATION VIA EVENTBRITE IS REQUIRED.
After registration, you will be emailed a Risk Assessment PDF file. Please read this prior to the clean up.
Litter pickers, bags, hoops and gloves will be provided and a selection of waders for those working in the river itself. Please bring other items yourself as follows:
1) Your own boots if working bank side.
IF YOU WISH TO WEAR WADERS FOR WORKING IN THE RIVER, PLEASE INFORM US OF YOUR BOOT SIZE SO WE CAN SUPPLY THE CORRECT RANGE. WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO ACCOMMODATE YOU.
2) Your own drink
Please also note the following:
- If you feel unwell do not participate in this event
- Refreshments will be served after the event
Please meet at the park gate near the disused toilets and shops on Brookmill Road, postcode (approximate) SE8 4JH.
Thank you!
