Oxford is famously known all over the world for it's rich history and prestigious University.
FREE entry. This is part of the University of Oxford and is the museum of Art and Archaeology. You will be dropped off near this museum at the start of the day.
Go on a walking tour
There are a number of different guided walking tours available. They do charge but they usually include entry into a number of the colleges (see information to the right) so they can work out cheaper. Always show your student card as this may get you a discount. The official walking tours start at the Oxford Visitor Information on Broad Street (see map for location) and cost around £8
Christ Church, Trinity college, Queens college or another University of Oxford college
Perhaps the most famous college is Christ Church (picture to the right) whose Great Hall inspired Hogwarts Hall in the Harry Potter movie, and filming was done here for the first few films! There are many colleges around Oxford, some are free to enter
and some charge a small fee of around £1/£2/£3.50. Christ Church is more expensive (£6) but you get to see the Great Hall where Harry Potter was inspired and filmed. Remember to show your student card as you will get the reduced rate.
Shops and covered market
There are number of shops and high street shopping centres. There is also a covered market. The Market square offers small arts and crafts outlets ideal for the visitor looking for a unique gift to take home.
You could hire a pedallo or rowing boat on the river from several locations: e.g. Magdalen Bridge, Bardwell Road, and Folly Bridge. These cost around £15 per hour per boat. (NOTE: if there is poor weather these may not be running.)
We will travel by coach and will meet outside Eastern Gateway Building at 8.45am on Saturday 18th March 2017. Please make sure that you bring your Student ID card with you.
We expect to arrive in Oxford by 10.30am. Take note of where the coach has dropped you as we will need to meet back here later (by the Ashmolean Museum).
When we get off the coach please follow your student guides. Once we get to the Town Centre you will be free to explore for the day.
At the end of the day, we will meet back where the coach dropped us at 4pm to take the coach back to Brunel University.
Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
If you sign up to this trip and do not attend (without notifying us at least 48 hours in advance), there will be a cancellation fee.
This is a free trip for currently enrolled Brunel Language Centre students, who are studying a Pre-Sessional English Course only.
