Event description

Description

Brunel University London has been the backdrop for many films and television shows over its first five decades. To celebrate our 50th anniversary we are launching a series of screenings of some of the most memorable – the second in the series is the British cinematic classic The Rise and Rise of Michael Rimmer.

Starring and co-written by Peter Cook, the film is a political satire which tells the story of the mysterious Michael Rimmer who uses a combination of deceit, lies and murder to enter the world of politics and climb the political ladder to become prime minister. The film satirised real life politicians such as Harold Macmillan and Enoch Powell, as well as the rising influence of spin and PR in British politics on its release in 1970.
