Sarah Howe & Mona Arshi
We present two of Britain's most celebrated new poets who published their first poetry collections in 2015 to huge acclaim.
Sarah Howe was born in Hong Kong to a Chinese mother and English father. Her background helped shape her debut poetry book, A Loop of Jade. She has recently had academic fellowships as a Renaissance scholar at Cambridge and Harvard universities, and she is currently a Leverhulme Fellow at University College London. Loop of Jade won The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award and the T.S. Eliot Prize.
Mona Arshi was born to Punjabi Sikh parents and grew up in Hounslow. She was a Human Rights lawyer with Liberty for a decade, and her debut collection, Small Hands, was nominated for several prizes and won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection in 2015.
