Brush up your Shakespeare workshop

For who?
The target audience are Equity members, actors, would be actors and young people thinking about training as actors. Also anyone interested in Shakespeare. The course level for this workshop is beginner/intermediate.
Aim of the workshop
The aim of the session is to learn techniques and skills that help to make Shakespeare's language easier to understand.
This course is for any actors who want to improve their skills regarding Shakespeare verse speaking and performance.
Objectives
The objective is to help actors and would be actors demystify the language of Shakespeare and to learn skills and techniques that help improve the understanding of Shakespearean text and performance.
By the end of the workshop you should be able to :
- Understand iambic pentameter - the verse form Shakespeare uses in all his plays.
- Speak Shakespeare's words with confidence.
- Gain techniques to use when performing Shakespeare.
You don't need to prepare a monologue for this workshop. You will be given sonnets on the day as excersises
Trainer
Steven Elliot is and actor and Associate Learning Practitioner at the Royal Shakespeare Company. He has performed in Shakespeare plays all over the UK, including at the National Theatre, Theatre Clwyd (where he is an Associate Artist) and the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he worked with former Artistic Director Terry Hands, John Barton and the legendary voice coach and theatre director Cis Berry. He'd love to pass on some of the techniques he learned from them to you!

Nod y sesiwn yw dysgu technegau a sgiliau sy'n helpu i wneud iaith Shakespeare yn haws i'w deall.
Mae'r cwrs hwn ar gyfer unrhyw actorion sydd eisiau gwella eu sgiliau ynglŷn â siarad a pherfformiad pennill Shakespeare.
Amcanion
Yr amcan yw helpu actorion gyda iaith Shakespeare ac i ddysgu sgiliau a thechnegau sy'n helpu i wella dealltwriaeth o destun a pherfformiad Shakespeareaidd.
Erbyn diwedd y gweithdy dylech allu :
- Deall pentamedr iambig - y ffurf benillion y mae Shakespeare yn ei ddefnyddio yn ei holl ddramâu.
- Siarad eiriau Shakespeare yn hyderus.
- Defnyddio technegau gwahanol wrth berfformio Shakespeare.
Nid oes angen paratoi ar gyfer y gweithdy, byddwn yn darparu sonedau ar eich cyfer ar y dydd i chi weithio arnynt.

Mae Steven Elliot yn actor ac Ymarferydd Dysgu Cyswllt yn y Royal Shakespeare Company. Byddai wrth ei fodd yn trosglwyddo rhai o'r technegau a ddysgodd ganddynt i chi!

Cancellation and Refunds Policy
A full refund will be issued to delegates who cancel at least 2 weeks prior to the event. Delegates who cancel within the 2 week period will not be eligible for a refund unless we are able to find someone else to take their place. Please let us know as soon as possible if you find you're no longer able to attend the workshop.
