CIPR North West starts 2016 with an opportunity to brush up your face-to-face networking skills! Networking is vital for success in business and helps you create powerful, lasting relationships. It can help you find a new job, win new clients, and discover people who will support your ideas.
Led by Dr Jane Tonge, the Programme Leader for MSc Public Relations and part-time online MSc Public Relations & Media Management programmes at MMU Business School, this evening session will help to develop your “soft” communication skills. Jane has made a special study of networking, researching the role and contribution it makes to client acquisition and retention within PR consultancies. Her research also explored business networks for smaller companies and professional services, and the barriers women experienced in networking.
Most people assume that those who work in PR are naturally extroverted and find networking easy. But it still remains a trial for many because of a lack of confidence, or a fear of rejection.
If you feel uncomfortable in a networking situation, don’t know how to start, or feel there is more you could achieve, this seminar could give your career a boost.
Come along and hear:
• How to develop new communication skills
• How to use and develop your personal contact network
• How to identify barriers to networking and overcome them
• How to network effectively
• How to maintain new contacts
This session should be especially helpful for those who are new to networking or who want to find new ways to develop their networks or networking skills.
The evening will begin at 6.00 pm with networking and refreshments; the presentation will begin at 6.30 pm.
At the event, non members will have the opportunity to receive a special discount code that allows them to join the CIPR without paying the joining fee.
Full payment must be received prior to the start of the event. No refunds or credit notes will be possible after Tuesday 12 January but you will be entitled to send a substitute.
