About this event

Join us for an engaging art project that invites locals and art enthusiasts aged 12 and up to connect with the beauty and complexity of the Thames River through creative expression. The event begins at the Lookin' studio with the exhibition "The Subtlety of White and Black: Absence and Presence," showcasing works by Choi Hoi Ying and Samson Wong. Participants will gain insights into the art of Hong Kong contemporary painter Master Choi Hoi Ying, renowned for his deep observation of nature and the emotional depth of his ink art.

They will not only understand the artists' works but also the principles of Chinese painting. Participants will learn the basics of Chinese sketching skills and the necessary tools. Additionally, they are encouraged to bring their own photos taken at the Thames to share their stories.

Following the workshop, there will be a short 10-minute walk to the Thames, where participants can choose an inspiring section of the landscape to draw by the riverside, reflecting their experiences and memories.

In collaboration with Teddington Library and the Richmond Arts and Ideas Festival, we will create an exhibition to showcase the artworks produced by participants, celebrating their creativity and connection to the Thames. No prior skill is required, and we warmly welcome you to join us for this immersive artistic journey!

At "bookliner", we believe in the intrinsic value of life and the power of self-discovery through art. We design exercises that promote deep observation, fostering personal growth and meaningful community connections.

Through sharing stories, publishing, exhibitions, and art courses, we engage participants in creative experimentation and encourage mindfulness. Currently, we are planning to publish creative children's books, develop theme-based art courses, and offer art therapy services in the UK and Hong Kong.

We value cultural exchange as a means to enhance understanding and promote well-being, delighting in sharing the rich traditions of Chinese painting and calligraphy through innovative art initiatives. Our "read and make" workshops, inspired by children's books and storytelling, bring narratives to life.

Join us for our workshops and exhibitions that celebrate the beauty of life and inspire connections to the world around us.
