***Attention BSC members***

You know that blog post you've been thinking about / working on / finishing off or ages? Do you need a gentle push to get it started / finished / submitted? If so, read on...

The British Society of Criminology wants to assist and encourage members to submit blogs for consideration on the BSC website. Therefore, we're hosting a two-hour, online session to provide a chunk of dedicated writing time alongside space to share blog-writing thoughts, tips, tricks etc.

The event is open to BSC members at all career stages, working on / in any area of criminology.

Proposed format:

14:00 - 14:30

Attendee introductions and intentions for the session
Exploring the aim and purpose of blog writing
Sharing ideas about what makes a good blog

14:30 - 15:30

60 minute writing session
Muted, cameras on or off as desired
If any attendees would like to undertake this part in a break-out room instead (i.e., for a blog post being written by multiple authors / attendees), that can be facilitated

15:30-16:00

Reviewing how the session went
Next steps

Important notice: There's no expectation for attendees to have completed their blog posts by the end of the session!!

This is the first time holding such an event. If it's successful, we'll look into hosting more of them.

Launched in 2018, the BSC Blog publishes members’ cutting-edge, insightful, and informative contributions on criminological research, theory, and practice.

This completely open-access resource attracts a wide-ranging audience, not just academic researchers but also policy makers, practitioners, educators, students, and the public.

Posts should be c.1000 words on any aspect of crime, criminology, or criminal justice. Further guidelines for authors can be found here.

The BSC blog publishes new posts each month and promotes these via its Twitter account.

BSC Blog: Online Writing Session
