Event description
UK Cilia Spring Meeting Edinburgh 2020

About this Event

Open to all, this free event is the annual Spring meeting for the UK Cilia Network. This informal multidisciplinary group aims to bring together researchers and clinicians working on structure and function of cilia and centrosomes in a broad range of organisms and cell types. Our goals are to foster collaboration and sharing of expertise in order to further understanding of these organelles and their role in development, ageing, health and disease. The Spring meeting aims to bring together members from more than 30 UK academic institutions. As always, the emphasis is sharing unpublished data from emerging talent favouring talks from students, post-docs and early career researchers.

This year's keynote talk 'RNA editing and Ciliogenesis' will be from Guangshuo Ou (Tsinghua University, China), on his exciting work to investigate the mechanisms regulating ciliogenesis in neural progenitors in C. elegans, using live-cell imaging, as well as biochemical tools and genetic screens. Be part of our line-up! Submit your abstract before 07/4/2020 to be be considered for a talk or poster- we especially encourage students, postdocs and early career researchers to apply.

Organizing committee: Pleasantine Mill (MRC HGU), Toby Hurd (MRC HGU) and Andrew Jarman (CDBS)

***Given the thematic overlap with the British Microtubule Meeting, we have scheduled this year the UK Cilia Spring Meeting to be held the following day in order to encourage participants to attend both excellent meetings, both in Edinburgh! To register for BMT2020, visit http://microtubule.bio.ed.ac.uk/Registration ****

We thank the BSCB and GenSoc for their generous sponsorship and University of Edinburgh Institute for Genetics and Molecular Medicine for use of the venue for this meeting.

***Please note that for GenSoc members, we have a limited number of GenSoc carer grants available, to help those with caring responsibilities attend. Please apply online.***
