We are very excited to welcome back award-winning science fiction author Alastair Reynolds as our September guest. Described by The Times as ‘mastersinger of the space opera’, Alastair is well-known to many in the group, both for his visits to the BSFG but also for his excellent range of novels and short fiction within the genre. Alastair became BSFG Honorary President in 2024.

Alastair Reynolds was born in Barry, South Wales, in 1966. He studied at Newcastle and St Andrews Universities and has a Ph.D. in astronomy. He stopped working as an astrophysicist for the European Space Agency to become a full-time writer. His novels Revelation Space and Pushing Ice were shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award; Revelation Space, Absolution Gap, Diamond Dogs and Century Rain were shortlisted for the British Science Fiction Award and Chasm City won the British Science Fiction Award. His newest release, Halycon Years, published by Gollancz, is a SF/noir mystery novel due out in October 2025.

You can learn more about his work by visiting his website www.alastairreynolds.com.
