Description

The course aims to cover very basic British Sign Language, with hands on practice in communicating with Deaf people on a selected range of topics, using both classroom time. You will also learn about the nature of the British Deaf community, its culture and language.

This course will be taught face-to-face and with a Deaf Teacher.

At the end of the course, you will be expected to:

  • Be aware different type of Deafness
  • Be able to introduce yourself in BSL.
  • Be able to exchange personal information in BSL about your health and where you live and work.
  • Be able to understand short narratives in BSL about basic topics such as the home, the family, the workplace and leisure activities.

This course is designed for hearing audiences who want to learn British Sign Language, and is delivered in BSL and spoken English by a qualified BSL tutor. No additional BSL interpreters will be present.

Suitable for ages 10+. One ticket admits one participant plus one personal assistant.

Part of Liberty –The Mayor of London’s free festival celebrating the work of Deaf and disabled artists, presented in partnership with Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019.

Deaf Rave present visual and captvating club events featuring d/Deaf performers for audiences of all hearing abilities. They will be presenting a Deaf Rave club event at Liberty on Saturday 23 November, 6pm-10pm.
