Event description

** This is one of our Flag Ship Courses **

Course Duration

Part 1: Distance Learning.

Part 2: 1 Day in order to revise and then deliver the practical aspects of the course (the 30-minute micro-teaching session part of the Award).

Who is this course suited for?

Anyone who has completed the BTEC Level 2 Award in Breakaway and Self-Defence or already has a basic knowledge of self-defence techniques and wishes to gain a creditable and recognised qualification in self-defence instruction.  This is also ideally suited to anyone who wishes to teach self-defence to members of the public, staff in the Healthcare, Education, and the Care Sector.

What's Covered on the Course?

On completion of the course you will be qualified to deliver self-defence classes to whoever you wish, wherever you wish and we can also offer you £5 Million insurance cover for £330 per year to teach self-defence if you require insurance.

When you enrol on the course you will be sent log-in details to the self-defence instructor resource page that will give you access to the documentation that you need to complete before the practical begins to achieve the Award.

To help you complete that documentation the resource page also gives you access to eleven videos and one audio MP3 to help you complete the online workbook which is your evidence of learning.

These are:

1. Understanding Reasonable Force - Part 1

2. Understanding Reasonable Force - Part 2

3. The Human Rights Act - Part 1

4. The Human Rights Act - Part 2

5. The Health & Safety at Work Act

6. Negligence - Part 1

7. Negligence - Part 2

8. The Science & Psychology of Self Defence - Part 1

9. The Science & Psychology of Self Defence - Part 2

10. The Science & Psychology of Self Defence - Part 3

11. Managing Fear & Stress

12. Tactical Muscle Relaxation MP3

Once you have completed your workbook you simply either send it in to us before-hand or bring it with you for marking.

As part of your assessment you will be expected to deliver a 30-minute practical training session and sit a short written exam to show that you understand what you have learned and can apply it to your practice.

The aim of the course is to provide you with everything you need to ensure that you can teach a legally defensible course professionally and safely.

Are There Any Pre-Requisite Requirements to Attending The Course?

There are no pre-requisite requirements for the course per-se, although you do need to have basic numeracy and literacy skills and be physically capable to undertake the training.

This latter point doesn't mean that you have to be 'gym-fit' as such, but be able to undertake physical training which will involve moving about, striking, kicking and grabbing with both hands.

If you have never taught any form of self-defence before this doesn't matter either as the course is designed to teach anyone to be able to teach a simple to learn, easy to use and easy to remember system that is lawfully accurate.

On completion of the course you will receive a BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award Certificate in Self Defence Instruction. This is the only National Vocational Qualification of its kind worldwide.

The benefits also include, having the confidence and peace of mind that once trained, you will be delivering a legally defensible system of self-defence and also a training system, that is health and safety compliant.

Set yourself apart from the competition and give yourself another income stream to your business by becoming a qualified self-defence instructor. Why? Well type "self-defence" into Google and you will get over 7 million searches!! In the UK alone 49,500 people a month search the internet by typing in the words "self-defence" That's how many people are searching for self-defence today! If you want to capitalise on this huge market for self-defence, then here is your opportunity to get qualified.
