Budget Conversations 2022/23
What are we doing?
Preparation of the 2022/23 Budget is well underway. Final decisions on where public funds will be allocated will be made by Council in March 2022.
In January 2022 we are organising a range of conversations, open to all residents across the Falkirk Council area. At these conversations, we want to share how and when decisions are made about Falkirk’s public funds and how these funds are allocated in the interest of our communities.
There is a shortfall between how much we spend on services and how much funding is available. This is called ‘the budget gap’. This means that the decisions that are made by Council about how funds are spent will affect some more than others, particularly those that rely on Council services.
We will also discuss how you can get involved in the Budget’s development much earlier in the process in future and how we can remove or resolve any barriers that might stop you getting involved.
Get involved!
There are several ways to get involved:
- Join the online conversation for your Ward. If you’re not sure what ward you’re in check here.
- Complete the Falkirk Council Budget Survey which opens in January 2022. Share your thoughts and let us know if you’re interested in being more involved with the Budget development in the future.
- Encourage family, friends, and neighbours living in the Council area to attend the events or complete the survey.
If you have any questions, contact us by email at: budgetconversations@falkirk.gov.uk
Our Promise
As an organisation we have made a promise to ask, listen, and act on what you tell us, wherever possible and to improve how we involve you in decision making.
To help keep that promise and make sure your views are central to decisions being made about Falkirk’s public funds, we will:
- Publish what you told us on our website by Spring 2022
- Include a summary of what we learn from these conversations in budget reports.
- Share links to where you can access relevant budget reports, watch the online Budget discussion, and find the outcomes of the debate
For further information on how the information you provide will be used, please read our privacy notice.
