Budgeting for sustainability in small charities can be challenging. However, there are things we can all do to help.

In this whistlestop tour, we will help you make a start by revisiting good budgeting principles, reviewing how to budget for full cost recovery, and exploring ways to build sustainability.

We will look at:

Understanding the benefits of budgeting
Knowing how to prepare a simple multi project organisational budget
Understanding how budgeting can contribute to sustainability
The limitations of full cost recovery and budgeting when building sustainability

About the trainer

This session will be led by small charity resilience specialist, Liz Pepler, from Embrace Finance. Liz draws on more than 20 years' professional experience holding a range of senior roles in several national and local small charities and social enterprises, and is a member in practice of the Institute of Accounting and Bookkeeping as well as a fellow of the RSA. She also has a Masters in Charity Accounting and Financial Management (Dist) and a PG Certificate in Charity Administration.

Who is it for?

This session is aimed at those volunteering with or working for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) groups or organisations in Somerset who may be responsible for developing and managing budgets or other aspects of finance.

This training is part of a programme of sessions that is being funded by the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund. Subsidised tickets are solely available to VCFSE staff and volunteers from organisations operating in Somerset.
