Event description

Description

Probably the number one issue on the desks of HR departments right now is putting together a GDPR compliant Data Protection Policy for staff. Following on from the popular session we ran late last year we are delighted to welcome back Richard Sheldon, who is an employment lawyer at Appleby and also the Policy Advisor for the Guernsey CIPD Branch to present a workshop on how to build a policy. The workshop will include:

. What legally a policy must contain
. The practical challenges in having a global policy or trying to fit into one locally
. Translating your data audit into a policy document
. How much detail your policy should go into
. Key risk areas to focus in on your policy

The format of the session will be based around a workshop with delegates having facilitated discussions with their counterparts in other businesses about some of the challenges that they are facing within their business and then documenting from a policy perspective key HR activities such as recruitment and screening, monitoring, sickness absence and disciplinary. The aim of the session is that all delegates will come out of the session with a clear list of action points that they can go away and check their existing policies are sufficient or begin the process of drafting them from scratch.
