Tired of waiting for someone else to put up a shelf or fix something simple?This hands-on, confidence-building workshop is for anyone who wants to learn how to safely and successfully use everyday tools — and leave with the skills to get things done.

In this 2.5-hour session, you’ll build your own wall-mounted coat rack while learning how to use key hand and power tools. Whether you're a complete beginner or have tried a few things at home, we’ll guide you through every step in a friendly, inclusive, and non-judgemental space.

You’ll get to take your finished coat rack home — and, more importantly, the skills to put up shelves, fix things, and build small projects with confidence.

This workshop is open to all adults and especially welcoming to women, led by a mostly female team who understand how empowering it is to gain confidence with tools.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to measure and plan a simple wall-mounted project
  • How to safely and confidently use:
  • Clamps
  • Hand saws
  • Power sanders
  • Spirit levels
  • Drills
  • Screwdrivers
  • When and how to use screws, hooks, rawl plugs, wall fixings and more
  • Finishing techniques: sanding, painting, and/or varnishing
  • Wall-mounting basics to help you put up your own shelves, artwork or hooks at home

What should I wear?

Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dusty, dirty, or possibly paint-marked. We’ll provide PPE (gloves, goggles, dust masks) where needed.

Is everything provided?

Yes — all tools, materials, fixings, and safety equipment are included in your ticket price. We’ll also have tea and coffee on hand to keep you going.

Is the workshop physically demanding?

There are some physical elements like sawing, sanding, and drilling. If you have any concerns or accessibility needs, please contact us before booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Can I book with a friend?

Absolutely — you’re welcome to come with a friend. Each person will need their own ticket so everyone has access to tools, materials, and support.
