Event description

Description

This 8-week course runs every Monday at 10am to 12:30pm, starting on the 13th of May until the 1st of July. To make the most of the course, we recommend you come along to as many sessions as possible, however if there are any dates you can't make then just let us know and we will do our best to accomodate you!

Are you looking to update your computer skills and improve your digital photography, all whilst working your way towards your dream career? As part of the PONToon project, Eastleigh Borough Council is running a free course for women aged 18-35 who have stepped out of the work environment for a while and are looking to brush up on their creative digital skills. Word processing, layout design and photography are key parts of this workshop, which will get you creating your own visual journal that charts your personal and professional progress towards to a new career!

Course Overview

Week 1 – Choosing your Career Pathway.

Make plans to find a job pathway, which you will work towards over the duration of the course, with help from Caroline and the PONToon WorkFindr tool.

Week 2 – Planning the Pathway.

Work out a career end goal for the next 3 to 5 years, and set milestones that can be turned into visual objectives to work towards.

Week 3 to 6 – Creating Your Pathway Journal

Photograph and upload your milestone images and learn to alter your photos using image editing software. Create your journal cover and plan and create your pages using simple desktop publishing software.

Week 7 and 8 – Finishing the Pathway Journal.

Finish creating your pathway journal and discuss what you’ve learned over the duration of the course, and how to use your skills going forward. Upon finishing the course, you’ll also be awarded a certificate of completion!
