Event description

We're working with Belfast City Council to better understand accessibility issues in the arts and culture sector across the city, building upon existing good examples and working towards improving Accessibility.

As part of this project we are running a series of workshops on access and inclusion with a creative challenge!

The workshops are free to attend for anyone in the arts, culture, and heritage sectors in Belfast, and will be facilitated by access consultant and artist Rae Sofley.

You will leave with a better understanding of many different elements of accessibility and what actions, tools and resources are needed to improve access and inclusivity in your own venue.

Where: The Green Room at the Black Box

You can choose from the following dates and times:

Tuesday 28th January: 11.00 - 13.00

If you have any accessibility needs or dietary needs, please drop Claire-Rose an email.

Here are some of the access accommodations we can provide.

What room are we in?

We will be in the Green Room in the Black Box on Hill Street in the Cathedral Quarter. The Green room is on the ground floor, when you enter the Black Box you will see it on your right.

How to get there?

The nearest accessible parking at St Anne’s Cathedral can be found 0.2 miles away. Taxis are able to drop off right outside the front door. The nearest bus stops are near City Hall which is 0.5 miles away.

Who is running the session?

We are working closely with access consultant and artist Rae Sofley to develop a series of actions to improve the experience of Disabled People/PWD and d/Deaf People in cultural and arts spaces, venues and at events. These discussions are planned and facilitated by people who self-identify as Disabled/PWD and d/Deaf to maximise the ability for empathetic and strategic discussion surrounding the subject of Accessibility in Cultural Organisations.
