How would you like a brand new website, stored on your own domain name, that you can easily update yourself with no technical knowledge? One that is optimized for search, can integrate audio and video easily, and is owned and managed by YOU and not a third party?
WordPress is the most popular blogging platform in the world and it’s free! But it also currently powers 1 in 6 websites in the world with 100,000 new sites being added every day.
If you cringe when people ask you for your web link, or spend a lot on professionals to update your site, using Wordpress could save you time and money.
This hands-on workshop will take you through the steps needed to build your new website from scratch, develop your existing one, or convert your current website to Wordpress. Bring your laptop with you if you want to follow along.
What you will gain:
- How to install WordPress on your own domain name.
- How to set up ‘static’ pages (e.g. About Us, Services, Contact Us), sidebars and navigation menus.
- How to use the ‘blog’ functionality of WordPress to drive traffic to your website.
- How to customize the look of your site using FREE themes and widgets.
- How to upload images, embed videos and add podcasts to create compelling multi-media content.
- The best FREE ‘plugins’ to use to add layers of functionality to your site in an instant.
- How to add Google Analytics to be able to monitor and track visitors to your site.
- How to optimise your site for the search engines.
- How to integrate social media such as Twitter and Facebook into your site.
- The ‘must-have’ elements of all great websites.
Who is it for?
Designers and creative businesses who market their own products in sectors such as fashion, furniture, interior design, jewellery, craft etc. The workshop is suitable for start-ups, early-stage businesses and established businesses that want to develop a website.
