Event description
A panel discussion exploring the opportunities and challenges of sourcing, using and reusing timber.

About this Event

In February 2019, the Committee on Climate Change produced a report linking the use of timber-based products and building techniques to a reduction of carbon emissions across the UK construction industry. Our panel of experts will highlight the opportunities and challenges these findings present and will raise important considerations to help future-proof today’s sustainable solutions.

Topics for discussion:

  • The green credentials of engineered timber and timber-based building techniques
  • Sustainability challenges for CLT suppliers
  • How to define embodied carbon and measure carbon footprints of individual buildings
  • Applying sustainability strategies to masterplan and infrastructure projects
  • Strategies for reducing carbon emissions across buildings lifecycles
  • Improving supply chains to reach carbon-reduction targets
  • Incentives for developers and local authorities to switch to low carbon materials and Modern Methods of Construction
