Building an Innovation System for Wales: The Role of Innovation Centres
Wed 7 December 2016, 18:00 – 20:30 GMT
Innovation Centres and their communities aim to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship across key economic sectors, create jobs and grow the economy. There are a number of successful Innovation and Incubation Centres in Wales, housing everyone from sole traders, micro's and SME's to large and multinational corporates.
Offering more than just buildings, Innovation Centres provide innovative environments and create supportive communities essential for the economy and businesses to grow and prosper. But what does the landscape look like for the future, how should these centres develop and what do businesses and organisations need?
This event will explore the current role of Innovation Centres within Wales and look at what we need for the future.
Speakers will include:
Dr. Nick Bourne (Head of Commercial Development, Cardiff University) - The role of Cardiff University Innovation Centre
Gareth Jones (CEO, Welsh ICE) - Overview of Welsh ICE and its progress
Victoria Norman (Founder, Signum Health) - The users view
Dr. Justin John (Head of Incubator Development at the Life Sciences Hub Wales, Welsh Government) - Harnessing the opportunities that collaboration and Innovation Centres can deliver
