About this event

Community • Other

Immerse yourself in the skills and techniques of visual ethnography at a participant workshop this October.

Register online now for a morning workshop at the Sir James Matthews building SJM 135/603, before we tour the Karama exhibition at the John Hansard Gallery in Southampton, with photographic artist and anthropologist Martin Ruddock.

To make the most of this experience, you are encouraged to sketch out a map which captures a route you take regularly. Print the map along with two or three images which bring this route to life – you can capture landmarks, locations or vistas. We will each share the route and photo images with the group to gather insights on how we both practice, interpret and expand on our visual ethnographic skills.

Places are limited. Register now to secure your place at the first Debating Ethnography event for 2025/2026.
