Building Community Resilience Together — A Strength-Based Approach for Dowsborough
The Jeder Institute is visiting the UK for two weeks, and we’re thrilled to announce they’ve agreed to run a special session right here in Dowsborough with Go Together as part of the Community Solution Seekers Project.Come and see the incredible work they do in person — an inspiring, hands-on experience you won’t want to miss.
How can we grow stronger together in times of change?
Join Go Together (UK) and the globally recognised Jeder Institute (Australia) for an engaging, practical, and hopeful workshop on Community Resilience, designed especially for people and organisations across Dowsborough, Somerset.
Grounded in a strength-based approach and the belief that relationships are our most vital infrastructure, this workshop focuses on how we can nurture connection, grow local capacity, and support one another — not just in response to life’s challenges, but in preparation for the future we want to create together.
Why This Workshop Matters
Across Somerset, communities are facing shifts and pressures — from rising costs to changing public services, from climate concerns to social isolation. And yet, the answers often lie close to home: in our neighbours, our networks, and the gifts we each bring. This workshop will help you unlock that local potential by:
- Building relationships before you need them — strengthening trust and collaboration across community, voluntary, and public sectors
- Uncovering and connecting local strengths — from skills and lived experience to informal support networks and shared spaces
- Fostering adaptability and wellbeing — offering practical tools for communities to navigate uncertainty with confidence and care
- Creating shared purpose across sectors — weaving stronger links between people and organisations working for good in Dowsborough
What You Can Expect
This is a hands-on, participatory session, filled with real stories, practical methods, and space to reflect, connect, and take action. Together we’ll explore:
- The principles and practices of Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD)
- How resilience grows from relationships, not just responses
- Insights from global communities and how they apply in Somerset
- Tools to support inclusive, community-led action
Whether you’re a local organiser, parish councillor, resident, community volunteer or part of a local organisation, this workshop offers a chance to connect, recharge, and reimagine what’s possible — together.
🍽 Bring & Share Lunch – please bring something to share if you can. It’s a lovely way to build connections over good food.
