Training workshop on how to build an effective relationship with your MP to lobby them on climate change .
About this event
Hope for the Future is a climate charity which works to equip communities, groups and individuals across the UK to communicate the urgency of climate change with their local politicians. Our vision is to see communities and their elected representatives across the UK come together to take decisive action on climate change. Based on first-hand experience, gathered since our creation in 2013, our training draws on communications research, influencing theory, counselling techniques and advice from politicians themselves. The training provides you with the skills to build strong relationships with elected representatives on climate change.
As part of Climate Week North East, we are excited to be delivering this two hour online training workshop. We will offer you tried and tested advice to help you be most effective in engaging with your MP, including:
- Working with MPs of different political persuasions
- Finding common ground between politicians and campaigners
- Framing your ‘ask’ for the best response
- Choosing which issues to raise with your politician
- Case Studies – previous stories of engagement
In collaboration with Aberdeen Climate Action, HFTF are organising an event to give constituents of Aberdeen North an opportunity to meet Kirsty Blackman MP and other politicians, to discuss their views on nature restoration and rewilding. This workshop can provide a good grounding to engaging with Kirsty at this upcoming event.
