Building Environmental Sustainability into Public Health Research
Event Information
Description
Climate Change is a critical threat and opportunity for Public Health that can only be tackled in a robust manner through a partnership approach.
The Faculty of Public Health's Sustainable Development Special Interest Group is therefore delighted to be collaborating with the National Institute for Health Research and the Sustainable Development Unit to host this workshop.
Helen Walters (NIHR adviser on PH research) and Sonia Roschnik (Director of the SDU) will be joining Jeremy Wight & Helen Ross (chair and vice chair of the FPH Sustainable Development SIG) to inform the discussion.
Come to the workshop and discuss how environmental sustainability can be built into public health research.
We are keen to ensure a good variety of elements of sustainable development are considered and so we have nominally allocated tickets across 8 themes. There are initially 2 tickets available per theme, but we will hold a waiting list in case we are over-subscribed. We would ideally like an academic and either a consultant or PH registrar with an interest in each of these themes so we can have a really rounded discussion. When you book your ticket, please specify which theme you have an interest in and provide information about your role
The themes are:
- Health, climate change and action to tackle climate change
- Sustainable economies and health
- Sustainable food
- Natural capital, nature and health
- Health inequalities and sustainable development
- Energy and affordable warmth
- Transport and active travel
- Sustainable commissioning and procurement
We look forward to hearing from you.
