Description

At Building Information Modelling: A Revolution in Public Sector Projects learn how to drive better value, improve project outcomes and unlock efficient methods of procuring, designing and maintaining assets throughout a project life cycle.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the first truly global digital construction technology. It has been described as a ‘game-changing’ ICT and cultural process for the both the public sector and construction industry. The UK Government’s mandate that all centrally-funded work is to be undertaken using BIM officially came into effect on April 4, 2016 driving an ambitious strategy for the UK to become a world leader in the global construction industry. The compulsory BIM level 2 mandate has had a major impact on public and private sector projects. New procurement processes are helping the supply chain unlock more efficient and collaborative ways of working throughout the entire project and use of open, sharable asset information is ensuring the successful delivery of complex buildings and infrastructure. The next step is BIM level 3, ensuring whole lifecycle management of assets integrating with digital technologies to transform the way we plan, build, maintain and use our social and economic infrastructure.

This conference agenda will explore how significant improvements in value, cost reduction and carbon performance can be achieved through the use of open, sharable asset information. Digital technology combined with the Internet of Things, advanced data analytics and the digital economy is enabling project managers to plan new infrastructure more effectively, build it at lower cost and operate and maintain it more efficiently. Delegates will gain a greater understanding of how BIM technology and methods can be put into practice to help reduce waste, reduce project time and improve quality.
