About this event

Time For Action: Establishing Dynamic Food Procurement UK Wide

This online event is open to all. It will make the case for the establishment of a national coordination body called Dynamic Purchasing UK (DPUK). DPUK is to be a buying organisation specialising in Dynamic Food Procurement co-founded by - and for the benefit of - anchor institutions in every region of the UK.

Dynamic food procurement within the public sector holds the key to catalysing positive change to address many of the issues caused by today’s food systems. Implementing the technology behind Dynamic Food Procurement is one of the key recommendations from the recently published National Food Strategy. It has the potential to shorten supply chains, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, restore biodiversity and improve food security by sustainably increasing food production through support for regional food producers and suppliers of all sizes. Dynamic food procurement can also trigger tangible regenerative local economic impact due to ‘the triple multiplier effect’.

Attendees will hear from speakers at the National Farmers Union, Sustain, Soil Association, Sustainable Food Trust, and commercial leaders from the health, justice and education sectors and will be able to pose questions to speakers live. Supporting resources will be offered to delegates to aid the development of dynamic food procurement in their region.

Establishing dynamic food procurement for every region in the UK is the goal. Representatives for each region are sought to lead the change.

This meeting will take place via Zoom, and we’ll send you the joining link nearer the time. The Webinar format will allow you to see the speakers and interact by posing questions via text shared with them.

Is this meeting for me?

The meeting is designed for individuals - regardless of role - that are interested in learning more about Dynamic Food Procurement or are already keen to have Dynamic Food Procurement implemented in their own institution or geography.

This event will discuss the social, economic and environmental benefits associated with Dynamic Food Procurement and share past successes and learnings. Content will be communicated via food policy and procurement speakers covering a range of public sectors.

The logistics, business and funding models along with support resources and communication tools will be discussed to enable progress towards establishing Dynamic Food Procurement in every region.

What happens next?

This event will share experience to support regional representatives in leading implementation of Dynamic Food Procurement; by forging connections to gather funding for food hubs, for logistics, and by providing access to technology.

Delegates will be introduced to Dynamic Purchasing UK (DPUK) - a buying organisation that is to be established to bring Dynamic Food Procurement to life across every region of the UK, in the public and private sector. A key resource DPUK will provide at implementation is a digital technology that allows short food supply chains to thrive - linking food producers to procuring authorities via compliant Dynamic Purchasing Systems (DPS), electronic catalogues and bespoke, innovative tech modules. The technology will integrate with local SME food logistics providers to fulfil, manage quality control, stock, consolidate and deliver along short supply chains while meeting the specific food standards and service requirements of the sector.

DPUK is able to provide ongoing information and support as Dynamic Food Procurement progresses in each region.
