About this event

Resilience is an ability that we are born with, but it is also a skill we can learn in order to thrive. This one-and-a-half hour workshop is particularly useful to those key workers, employees and volunteers of charities and small businesses working or living in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, who would like to learn how to build personal resilience and improve our responses to unexpected challenges.

We will look at what we mean by resilience and the variables that contribute to an individual’s resilience. By breaking down the attributes of resilience we can see how important it is to find our own coping mechanisms and overcome hurdles.

This interactive workshop will also:

  • Introduce emotional intelligence and how this links to resilience
  • Identify unhelpful thinking styles, in particular the ones that affect our resilience, and how these can get in our way
  • Discuss the role of positive emotions, in particular gratitude
  • Explore the skills that contribute to resilience and how we can improve these

The workshop is run by Richmond Borough Mind, a charity rooted in the local community which exists to meet local mental health needs. Through our various projects, staff and volunteers, we provide high quality, individually tailored services so people can live full lives and be connected to other people in their communities.
