Building Schema Around Substantive Concepts in Primary History; Government
Overview
This practical webinar will show how pupils can be introduced to the abstract concept of government which can then be systematically re-visited wherever it occurs in content, ensuring that pupils accumulate powerful knowledge around it for retrieval, as they progress through medium term plans. Reference will be made to the study of possible significant individuals who headed different forms of government such as Oliver Cromwell and Ashoka, India’s first emperor. Various forms of government will also be featured from across KS2 content including civilisations, ancient Greece, Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings and the curricular options of Islamic Civilisations, the Maya and Benin.
