About this event

This practical webinar will show how pupils can be introduced to the abstract concept of monarchy which can then be systematically revisited wherever it occurs in content, ensuring that pupils accumulate powerful knowledge around it for retrieval, as they progress through medium term plans. Reference will be made to the study of possible significant individuals at KS1 such as Queen Elizabeth the First and Queen Elizabeth the Second. Various individual monarchs and types of monarchy will also be featured from across KS2 content including from ancient civilisations, Ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and the curricular options of Islamic Civilisations, the Maya and Benin. Links will be made to the optional study of the development of the English and then British monarchy from 1066 onwards.
