Description

Building stronger sports clubs with community shares

Community Shares Wales will be teaming up with Supporters Direct (SD) to co-host an event to hear how community shares can help sports clubs in Wales.

The event will be hosted by Newport County at Rodney Parade, a club that managed to raise £250k in just 5 weeks through a share offer and gave the community control of the club. Guest speakers include Stuart Fuller, the Chairman of Lewes FC, who will explain how a club that was struggling financially has rebuilt itself with the co-operative model including a new 3G facility with a community share offer at its core.

The event will be held on Thursday 19th October and is free to attend, with food served from 5.30pm and the presentations due to start at 6pm.

There will be a range of attendees from across the co-operative and sporting sector with experienced practitioners and club leaders able to discuss whether this might be the right choice for your club.

We would encourage people to attend if they are involved with a sports club that is democratically run (or willing to change its structure) that is looking to develop and grow and needs to raise capital to achieve this ambition. Perhaps you have an opportunity to take on an asset or you see a business opportunity for your club.

About community shares

Over the past few years over 400 community businesses have raised more than £100 million through community share offers, including 14 sports clubs who have raised almost £7 million working with SD. Although most of the share offers to date have involved football clubs this method of finance can work for any sports club, in the same way it has been successful with shops, pubs and a range of sectors.

Adeiladu clybiau chwaraeon cryfach gyda chyfranddaliadau cymunedol

Bydd Cyfranddaliadau Cymunedol Cymru yn cydweithio â Supporters Direct (SD) i gynnal digwyddiad a fydd yn dangos sut y gall cyfranddaliadau cymunedol helpu clybiau chwaraeon yng Nghymru.

Cynhelir y digwyddiad gan Glwb Pêl-droed Sir Casnewydd yn Rodney Parade, sef clwb a lwyddodd i godi £250,000 mewn 5 wythnos trwy gynnig cyfranddaliadau, a rhoi rheolaeth o’r clwb i’r gymuned. Bydd y siaradwyr gwadd yn cynnwys Stuart Fuller, Cadeirydd Clwb Pêl-droed Lewes, a fydd yn esbonio sut mae clwb a oedd mewn trafferth ariannol wedi ei ailadeiladu ei hun trwy’r model cydweithredol, gan gynnwys cyfleuster 3G newydd gyda chynnig cyfranddaliadau cymunedol yn ganolog iddo.

Cynhelir y digwyddiad nos Iau, 19 Hydref, a bydd yn rhad ac am ddim i’w fynychu. Gweinir bwyd o 5.30pm ymlaen a bydd y cyflwyniadau’n dechrau am 6pm.

Bydd amrywiaeth o bobl yn bresennol o bob cwr o’r sector cydweithredol a chwaraeon, a bydd ymarferwyr ac arweinwyr clybiau profiadol yn gallu trafod ai hwn yw’r dewis iawn i’ch clwb chi.

Anogwn bobl i fynychu os ydynt yn gysylltiedig â chlwb chwaraeon sy’n cael ei gynnal yn ddemocrataidd (neu’n fodlon newid ei strwythur) sydd eisiau datblygu a thyfu, ac y mae angen iddo godi arian i gyflawni’r uchelgais hwn. Efallai y byddwch yn gallu manteisio ar ased neu’n gweld cyfle busnes ar gyfer eich clwb.

Ynglŷn â chyfranddaliadau cymunedol

Yn ystod yr ychydig flynyddoedd diwethaf, mae dros 400 o fusnesau cymunedol wedi codi mwy na £100 miliwn trwy gynigion cyfranddaliadau cymunedol, gan gynnwys 14 o glybiau chwaraeon, sydd wedi codi bron £7 miliwn wrth weithio gyda SD. Er bod y mwyafrif o’r cynigion cyfranddaliadau hyd yn hyn wedi cynnwys clybiau pêl-droed, gall y dull cyllido hwn weithio i unrhyw glwb chwaraeon, yn yr un modd ag y bu’n llwyddiannus gyda siopau, tafarndai, ac amrywiaeth o sectorau.

Ei nod yw codi ymwybyddiaeth o gyfranddaliadau cymunedol a chynorthwyo cymunedau ledled Cymru trwy’r broses o ddosbarthu cyfranddaliadau, i’w galluogi nhw i ddatblygu gwasanaethau a chyfleusterau lleol yng nghanol eu cymunedau.

SD yw’r sefydliad blaenllaw sy’n datblygu a hyrwyddo clybiau chwaraeon y mae’r gymuned yn berchen arnynt, ac mae wedi cydlynu neu roi cyngor i bron pob cynnig cyfranddaliadau ym maes chwaraeon i helpu clybiau chwaraeon i godi bron £7 miliwn yn ystod y 3 blynedd diwethaf.
