About this event

Building Us: Queer Tools for Surviving & Thriving

Join us for an affirming and interactive session centered on queer mental health and wellbeing. In these sessions we will explore practical tools and strategies for navigating challenges faced by LGBT+ communities, and foster queer joy. Whether you're seeking coping strategies, wanting to deepen your self-understanding, or just needing to be in affirming company, this space is for you.

The first session will be about Self Care, including the history of the term and its roots in liberation movements, and what it means on an individual and collective level for LGBT+ folks.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Who we welcome

All LGBTQ+ people aged 16+ in Glasgow are welcome to join us.

We welcome the entire diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community including non-binary, queer, intersex, asexual people and all identities under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella.

We also welcome people who aren't sure about their sexual orientation/gender identity, or who do not use labels for either.

Registration

Spaces are limited to 20 people so we need you to register in advance.

Use this Eventbrite form to register. Registration is for 1 person only. If you wish to book for someone, please make another registration using their name. After registration, you will receive a confirmation email.

You can also contact the event organiser Sophie (they/them) at sophie@lgbthealth.org.uk, or phone 0141 255 1767 and leave a message for Sophie.

If something changes and you can no longer attend the event, please let us know as soon as you can so your space becomes available for someone else. You can cancel your space on Eventbrite or contact Sophie.

Access

The event is hosted at LGBT Health and Wellbeing in the Adelphi Centre.

We will send more information about the venue and how to access the event after you register.

The venue and our event features:

  • ♿️ Wheelchair access with level access
  • 🅿️ Free on-street parking with disabled parking + drop-off area at the front of building
  • 🚾 Gendered toilets + an accessible gender-neutral toilet

Please be aware the venue is not fully accessible. Doors in the building are manual and the accessible toilets are behind sliding doors. And there is no pavement from the disabled parking spaces (go through the car park). These issues have been fed back to the Adelphi Centre and we hope they will be improved for all of our community members in mind.

If there is anything you need to talk to us in advance of the event, please contact Sophie:

  • 📧 email sophie@lgbthealth.org.uk
