Event description

Description

Craft, drawing and imagining the future.

Building Utopia is a public installation taking place at Harlow’s Eastgate Gallery on 29th February.

Learn about concepts of utopia through time and around the world. What is utopia? What does it mean for you? Design posters for an imagined civilisation, add your ideas to the Wall of Change and make buildings, gardens and more to add to the central ‘Future City’ installation.

Come to make, come to talk, come to watch. Come to think about the past and the future.

All ages and abilities welcome.

Entry is FREE and there is no need to book. See you there!

Harlow was intended to be a utopian town. Maybe it is. BUILDING UTOPIA invites thought and discussion around utopian ideals and how they have been realised across time.

ACCESS:

BSL accessible - Session leader signs and has CSW experience.

Wheelchair accessible - The gallery opens directly onto Eastgate and is wheelchair accessible, however there are no accessible toilets on site. The Harvey centre is very near with toilets reached by lift.

Autistic Spectrum access - The installation will be relaxed and informal. If you think you could benefit from a quieter environment with lower light levels, please contact us and we will discuss the best time to create that setting for you.

If you have any access queries, please don't hesitate to contact Sally Hardcastle on s.r.hardcastle@gmail.com
